The purpose of this class is to hone students abilities in routing and switching. This includes growing knowledge of the routing protocols and how they interoperate.

Students will train on a variety of equipment using the different models of routers and the Catalyst based switches. All students will have access to Frame Relay, ISDN, Ethernet, ATM, and Voice Networks. The lab preparation is meant to be an intensive lecturing and hands-on experience for students who are pursuing their CCIE certification.

Classes will begin at 8:30 every morning and last until at least five o'clock in the afternoon. It is not uncommon for classes to extend until well into the night. Students will be given lab books from which to work. The book will detail the building of skill sets through various hands-on activities.

The final two days are reserved for one-day lab tests. Students will have the chance to hone their skills in a mock lab by configuring the equipment in a pseudo mock lab that will help prepare them for the actual lab. Students are expected to attempt at least one lab scenario. Students have the option of completing a second lab scenario on the 8th day of class.

Class will officially last 7 days, but an extra lab will be set up if students can manage to stay for 8 days.

The instructor(s) for this class will all be CCIE certified in good standing. The instructor except laptops will provide all materials for instruction. It would be beneficial if each student could bring his or her own laptop. In the event that this is not possible, one will be provided.
